Workshops

I periodically teach workshops in Mukinbudin, WA, where I live, and am willing to travel to other places if there are interested participants.

BEGINNER FELTING, ONE DAY WORKSHOP.

Participants will learn to lay out wool tops and will make a sample piece that can be used for a small project such as a glasses case or journal cover. They will also make a nuno-felted silk scarf, and both of these will be decorated with silk tops. Cost is $90 per person, including all materials, more if travel is required for the tutor.

INTERMEDIATE FELTING, TWO DAY WORKSHOP – Using resist material to make a hat or bag or vessel.

Participants will learn how to turn a two-dimensional layout into a three-dimensional item. We will also learn to make and attach a felted cord to serve as a strap or handles on a bag.

NUNO-FELTED TOP OR TUNIC, THREE DAY WORKSHOP for felters with some experience.

Participants will learn different techniques of laying out wool onto silk to make a no-sew top or tunic. All seams are felted and the garment can be fitted to your shape by felting different areas more. Felters may bring their own materials or purchase them from the tutor. See images in the relevant section of this webpage, under 'store'.

SLEEVELESS COAT WITH SHAWL COLLAR, FOUR DAY WORKSHOP for felters with experience.

This above-the-knee coat is nuno-felted in two or three pieces, depending on the size. Pockets may be included if desired. Quick workers may add sleeves, which are included in the pattern provided.
